Jerry Lawrence Biography
Jerry Lawrence, Associate Broker
I entered real estate after a career as a Mechanical Engineer. I was employed at Link Simulator, GE, Raymond, Ozalid, and Universal. My wife, Betty , was a part time realtor when I left Industry, so I entered the profession to be able to help her. She was about to retire as a school teacher and Real Estate was her dream as a second profession.
We started our careers at CR Realty in Endicott, moved to Gruver Realty and when they retired, we moved to Red Carpet Realty. We prefer the smaller agencies so we could be totally engrossed in the needs of our individual residential customers. We, over the years, have developed family-like relationships with most of the customers.
I have spent a few years in Commercial Real Estate, specializing in Retail Mall development. I want to develop my skills in industrial Real Estate development and hope to eventually concentrate on increasing the industrial base of the Southern Tier.
My short term goal is partnering with my wife in her residential sales while sharpening my knowledge of commercial Real Estate. I am a member of NYSCAR Commercial Real Estate Association and have been taking courses.
We are very active in church related activities and help publish a public access TV show "Men Who Change" shown on Chanel 4 Mondays at 8:30 PM. When our children were in high school we were leaders in a Youth Encounter program called Teen Seminar. We currently counsel at Teen Challenge, a Christian-based Drug Rehabilitatiion program.
I have also helped construct and maintain the Finger Lakes Trail, a footpath extending across New York State.
Our Real Estate career has been very rewarding as we have been able to successfully manage the home purchase transition for many satisfied customers.
